Knuthenlund dairy
My great-grandfather, J. P. H. Hansen, a dairyman, won an award in 1903 for his white cheese, and which enabled him to by Knuthenlund 10 years later.
When I took over the estate in 2006, after careful consideration I decided to convert operations to organic production. The aim was to create a new range of products based on the excellent growing conditions and the mild climate on Lolland and to do so according to the principle ‘from field to table'.
The products in the dairy shop at Knuthenlund are produced from the estate's own herds of free-range, organic milking sheep and goats. The animals spend 150 days a year grazing on Knuthenlund's lush meadows. The meadows have been sown with a variety of herbs, which help to give the milk a full-bodied and rich flavour.
The milk is then carefully processed in our own dairy. We have gone to great lengths, so we hope you enjoy our products.
