Quality sheep and goat's milk

At Knuthenlund we have a 200-strong herd of East Friesian dairy sheep and 235 Saanen, Toggenburger and Danish Landrace dairy goats. The animals are looked after by our competent herdswomen Heidi Hansen, Karina Kristensen, and Linda De Boer together with our trainees.

The animals are looked after according to organic principles which, among other things, ensure that the animals graze in the fields at least 150 days a year. The animals are loose-housed during the winter in ample straw in our newly renovated stables. To ensure high-quality meat and milk, the animals are fed in so far as possible with hay harvested on the estate. The fresh milk is processed in our own dairy which is situated in a former cowshed.
